Creating Your Ebook Front Cover

Hi Guys,

After a long journey learning about how to set up your ebook, the end is now in sight.

We are now going to look at creating a cover for your ebook.

Before we start however I just want to make sure that you have come up with a name for your ebook, have stored the cover image in your project folder and have made a note of where that image was originally posted if it is not your own image.

If any of the above are not in place you should do that before you continuing.

If you are ready then we shall begin.

Go to your project folder and open the draft document from your content folder.
You should find at the start of your document, you have two blank pages.
We will be creating our front cover in Open Office.

At the top of your first page type in the name for your ebook that you have decided on.

Now we need to format your title.
The first thing  you need to do is left click and drag your mouse over the title and then click the centre align button at the top of your computer screen.
Next, change the font to one of your choice as well as the size of the font
Next place your cursor at the beginning of you title and hit the return key several times to make some space at the start of your page.
Underneath  the title text your name needs to be inserted.

You do this is the same way as adding your title text.
Finally it is time to add the image you have chosen for the front cover.
This is done as follows.

Click on the white area where you want your image to appear.

Click on the insert in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

A drop down menu will appear.
Go down the word picture and then across to from file.

A menu box will appear and you need to scroll through your computer files until you find the location of the saved cover image in your project folder.
Click on the saved image and the click open at the bottom of the menu box.

This will place the saved cover image into the page on your document.

This will affect the formatting of your page so you need to go to the blank space on the first page of your document just before the image and hit the delete button until your text is where you want it.
If there is still not enough room then you will have to make your image smaller by clicking on it and then place your cursor on the green dot in the corner and drag it whist holding down your left mouse button until your image is the size you want it.

Get rid of any unwanted white space on your page by clicking on the area and hitting the delete button.

You now have a basic front cover for your ebook.

If you want to get a more professional looking cover and you have the funds to do it then go to Google and type in something like create a front cover for me and you will get a list of people who can create a front cover for your ebook.

You could also go to places like Warrior Forum or Fiverr and get someone there to create one for you.

I would expect to pay between $5 to $10.

That's it for today.

Next time is will be looking at adding a contents page.

Have a profitable day.
