Further Formatting

Hi Guys,

I hope you are well.

Today it is time to look at further formatting the text for your new ebook.

When you change the size of the text and the justification on your web pages it changes the way your text looks.

What you need to do now is go back and check how each page of your ebook looks like.

Go to the first page of text and make sure there are no gaps at the top.

If there are gaps before the start of the text, place your cursor at the start of your text.

Then simply hit the delete but until your text has moved to the top of the page.

Go through your ebook and do this on every page where you have got gaps before the text.

Now we are ready to start adding the chapter headings.

Hopefully you would have given each of your chapters a heading.

Something like " Chapter 3 How to ......"

If you have not done this then you need to this before you go any further.

Assuming you have got your chapter headings in place we can continue.

Go to the top left corner of Open Office and click on the icon next to where it says something like default.

This will then open into a new window.

It will list the text styles.

What you need to do is right click on the heading 1 option in the drop down menu.

Another menu will appear and you need to click on modify

That will open a new window of options.

What you have to do here is to choose the font that you want your headings to have.

Next to the font choose whether you want to be italic, bold etc.

Select the size that you want your headings to be.

Next click on the alignment tab above these boxes.

You can then choose where you want  this text to appear, either left, right or center.

Having done this click on the ok tab at the bottom of this box.

What you now need to do is activate the headings for each page.

Go to your first page.

Highlight the text in the box at the top of the page.

Then go to box with default in it next to the font box.

Hit the arrow button next to it and a drop down menu will appear.

Select heading 1 this will become apparent when we come to add the content page.

You will find that this applies the selection we have already made to heading on your fist page.

What you now need to do is do this to all of your headings one at a time selecting heading 1 in the drop down menu.

You will find this greatly improves the look of your pages.

That is it for today.

Tomorrow we will look at adding bolds, highlight and color.

Have a profitable day.
