Setting up your folders

Hi Guys,

Yesterday I started talking about setting up your own e-book.

I asked you to set up a project folder.

Knowing what some people are like you have not done this.

In order to help you get started I have set up one for you.

You can download it by clicking on the link below.

Project Folder.

Now let's look at how we are going to produce the ebook.

There are several methods of doing this.

You can do it with a paid program such as Microsoft office or you can use a FREE program such as Open Office.

Now to make sure that everyone can do this, even those who are finding money is tight at the moment, I am going to look at Open Office.

The first thing you will need to do is download Open Office.

To save you the trouble of searching through Google to find the application, I have provided a link to take you straight to the Open Office page.

Once you are on the open office page you will need to click Download Open Office.

It should be the one at the top in green.

Click on download Open Office.

Save the file to you desktop or where ever you can get easy access to it.

Once your copy has has downloaded, got to where you downloaded it on your computer.

There should be a symbol called OpenOffice.org

Double click on the icon to activate your copy.

You will then be presented with several symbol including text document, spreadsheet and presentation.

The one you want for your ebook is the one called text document so click on that.

It will then open the desktop publishing software.

You are now set up to start producing your ebook.

In the next blog I will look at the applications involved in your desktop publishing software.

Feel free to have a look around the Open Office program if you like to get comfortable with it.

Until next time, have a profitable day.
